I'm actually not reading anything at the moment, but i did read a Dean Koontz book a while ago. Velocity it was called. The ending was slightly off i though, but i reccomend it.
In the past I have sometimes complained that Stephen King writes about characters that have no real standing in the story he has created. Over long histories that result with the person dying straight after.
Well, with CELL, all is forgiven. This is how Stephen King writes when he's at his best. Sharp, nasty and with characters that count. The ending is tight and followed by a, for King, swift tying up of loose ends.
If you've never read KING, this is where you should start.
I've just finished "Hero in the Shadows" by David Gemmell, of course! It's the third book about his Anti-hero Waylander the Slayer. (Those in the know will recognise this name!) As usual it's very well written, Mr Gemmell makes reading easy, the stories just seem to flow by. I'd recommend this to any Fantasy fan. It would probably be better to read the three books in order, but it's not essential.

Just picked up an uncorrected proof copy of ENDYMION SPRING by Matthew Skelton in a charity shop. Due for release in Hardback any day now. Have only just started it, but really enjoying the premise. I will keep you posted.
oooooh, cheap plug for MONSTER ISLAND!! www.brokentype.com/monster - it's by a guy called David Wellington and it's awesome sauceum. Everyone should buy it! EVERYONE! Don't make me throw shoes at you!
While it's excellent to see reccommendations for books, I still have four shelves of fantasy to get through in my library before I can even think of moving on to horror, or biographies, or dog maintenance.
Does anyone have any anime/cartoon stuff to recommend? I keep wanting to throw myself into it, but damned if it isn't expensive. I need priorities. I dunno how many more times I can read a review on Evangelion before I spoon my own eyeballs out. *G*
If no-one cares then okay, I'll just be over here with my cutlery.... *G*
Sorry Kitten I can not and will not recommended anime books. I think it's a disgrace that book shops now have huge shelf spaces filled with glorified comics when they don't even have a section supporting the British indie press. What are they thinking.
I have recently just finshing reading Terry Pratchetts newish book called Thud, it was a great read with many interesting characters and a great story line. I reccommend it to anyone who is into fiction and a bit fairytale.
