Not many new members lately so I thought I'd come on and say "Hi, My name's Garry Charles and I write horror." tongue.gif

Nice to meet you, Garry. I write horror, too - what are the chances, eh?

In the 1300 plus users that are piled up in the system, waiting for activation....there's probably 1300 spammers. Seriously. I'd be surprised if we found someone genuine.

I've noticed a lot of new 'members' online, only to see that they don't have validated profiles and promptly disappear. Aggravating.

That's a sad statistic, Demon. I take it ridding us of them is an automated process?

There's hordes of these spambots about. At some point, right thinking people will track down the twerp who came up with the code for these things and break his hands and kneecaps. he's clearly a bigger twerp than that Dark Avenger idiot. (The virus designer who has clearly read too many comics, and has never once stated what it is he's avenging. Given he lives in Bulgaria, it could be all sorts of things. Possibly buying one of those cheap soviet ZX81 knock offs in the early '80s...)

He should limit his spam attacks to Clive Sinclair, then, shouldn't he?

The system in place means we have to process validations on an individual basis.
That's a lot of meaningless button pushing. Meaningless because they come back.

So gardening or meaningless button pushing? I'll choose gardening any day. Roll on the 2000 mark. WOOT!

I like the idea of being a member of a private, exclusive club. But I suppose that doesn't do much for Hadesgate, does it?

Eventually I'll probably convert this forum to the ZetaBoards format which, supposedly, has greater protection against spammers.
